MADS LYNNERUP: YOU ARE THE ARTIST, YOU FIGURE IT OUT
January 10th - February 14th, 2009
Baer Ridgway Exhibitions is pleased to announce a solo exhibition with Mads Lynnerup titled You Are The Artist, You Figure It Out. In this exhibition Lynnerup ambitiously assembles a wide variety of artistic media in order to convey his concepts. Orchestrating an installation of wheat paste posters echoing the exhibition title, the viewer is lead into the gallery where a large scale wall painting and several sculptures including "Super Burrito Couches" can be viewed along with a variety of conceptual films ranging in length from a few minutes to 24 hours long. Lynnerup is a MFA Graduate from Columbia University, New York. In January, the Danish born Lynnerup returns to San Francisco where he completed his undergraduate studies at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2001.
"In the exhibition You are the Artist, You Figure It Out, Lynnerup continues to explore and expand on early concerns addressed through imagery and exchange. Lynnerup humorously takes aim at topics such as utopian space, economic exchange, and branding, including that of conceptual art practices of the 1960s and 1970s" - Terri C. Smith, Independent Curator
A fully illustrated catalog with essay by Terri C. Smith accompanies this exhibition.
