JAMES STERLING PITT ARTIST TALK
James Sterling Pitt is an American artist whose work is influenced by a traumatic brain injury he sustained in 2007. Here he talks with Professor of Psychology and Neurology Linda Noble and her students at the University of Texas at Austin and is interviewed by Allie Haeusslein, Associate Director at Pier 24 Photography.
Anne Appleby at the Missoula Art Museum
Observing and responding to her the forest surrounding her home and studio outside of Jefferson City, Montana, artist Anne Appleby distills her perceptions of natural elements as they perpetually alter throughout their life cycles. In this new series of works, Appleby addresses the collective angst we are experiencing, consciously or not, regarding the rapidly changing climate.
A New Public Artwork by Amy Ellingson
Commissioned by Sam Houston State University in 2019 and installed in July 2021, this permanent installation is a 26 x 26 ft ceramic mosaic mural. Designed for the atrium lobby of SHSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine Building in Conroe, Texas and fabricated and installed by Mosaika Art & Design, Montreal, the mural employs a formal language of color, sweeping linear elements and overlapping, floating forms.
Anne Appleby at the Tacoma Art Museum
Painting Deconstructed: Selections from the Northwest Collection at the Tacoma Art Museum features Anne Appleby’s four-panel painting, Early Rose, 2005. This 98 x 98 inch oil and wax on canvas painting was acquired for the museum with funds from Rebecca and Alexander Stewart.
Anne Appleby and James Chronister at The Gund Gallery
The Art of Trees at the Gund Gallery at Kenyon College features the work of Anne Appleby and James Chronister. This exhibition runs from January 22 through April 11, 2021 and was curated by a committee of Gund Associates, Kenyon faculty, and Gund Gallery staff.
Andy Vogt at the San Francisco International Airport
Andy Vogt’s latest public artwork, Unfolding Space (in gold), has been unveiled at the San Francisco International Airport (SFO Terminal 1, Boarding Area B). Commissioned by the San Francisco Arts Commission in 2018, this 12 ft tall by 45 ft wide sculpture consists of 400 pieces of hand-cut and hand-patinated bronze. The piece is the artist's first work in metal and the largest sculpture to date.
